Guide

For the moment, anyone can register as a Subscriber but I will promote the students in the group to be Authors who can add articles. This guide is to help Authors post an article.

This is what you see when you log in. Go to “Posts” and choose “Add New”.

This is the page where you type your article. “Add title” is where you type in the title of the article. Press enter after that. And basically this is what you do: type your text and press enter every time you want to start a new paragraph.

When you click on “1” and choose “Outline” you will be able to see a word count “2”. Please restrict your article to not more than 200 words. I think keeping to 100-150 words would be a good discipline.

As you can see, my title is “Re-use” (marked as “3”), and I had selected the text “voila” (marked as “5”) and italicised it (in the floating panel marked “4”).

On the right side, looking at the “Post” tab (“1”), you can see at “2” a place where you can set the featured image. This is the image that will appear at the top of your article. Click on that grey area and you can choose to either “upload from your computer” or “choose picture from media library.

Most likely you will upload the file. Just look for the picture you want to upload and drag it from your file explorer onto the page and it will upload. Wait for it to finish uploading.

When everything is ready, you can either “Preview” or “Publish” (see the two buttons on the top right). For now you cannot “Publish” immediately and what you do is to “Submit for Review”, which will alert me to post the article you have written. Be patient; I should get this done by the next day. You can always preview your article and make further changes if you wish.

To get back to the the dashboard (the first page when you log in), click on the WordPress logo at the top left corner.

Generally you should not take more than 20-30 minutes to write up to 200 words but you might spend a bit more time to check through and correct or improve what you have written.

I promise to give my feedback on all your efforts.

I hope you will enjoy writing and learning!
